CAPTAINS WEEKLY REPORT

WEEK ENDING 21ST JULY 2019

ANOTHER GREAT WEEK OF GOLF,THANKS TO MARK AND THE GREENKEEPING STAFF FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK IN KEEPING THE COURSE IN TIP TOP CONDITION.

   ON WEDNESDAY DERBY COUNTY COMMUNITY TRUST(MY CHARITY) HELD A CHARITY DAY,ALL THE PLAYERS WERE COMMENTING  HOW GREAT THE COURSE WAS.THE LADY CAPTAIN,SHEILA,MARLENE AND MYSELF TOOK PART AND WE ALL ENJOYED IT.IF THEY HAVE ANOTHER DAY I HOPE MORE PLAYERS FROM THE CLUB TAKE PART.

   THE MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING IS ON FRIDAY THIS WEEK,IF ANYONE HAS ANY POINTS TO RAISE PLEASE FORWARD THEM TO THE SECRETARY OR ANY COMMITTEE MEMBER FOR INCLUSION.

CAPTAINS WEEKLY REPORT

WEEK ENDING 14TH JULY

I AM WRITING THIS A DAY EARLIER THIS WEEK AS I AM STILL IN THE AIR AFTER A GREAT DAY.THE WHOLE DAY WENT REALLY WELL,AND WE HAD THE WEATHER TO BOOT.

I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT DAY EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING. CAN I GIVE A SPECIAL MENTION TO MR STARTER DAVE BALDING, MR PRESIDENT HERBERT FRYER AND JOHN HALLETT FOR ALL THE HELP AND SUPPORT THEY GAVE ME THROUGHOUT THE DAY.ALSO BERYL KEEGAN WHO SUPPLIED ALL THE CAKES FOR THE HALFWAY HOUSE.THE COURSE LOOKED IN FANTASTIC CONDITION,AND I KNOW MY GUESTS WERE VERY IMPRESSED.

I CAN'T GIVE A FULL FIGURE ON AMOUNT RAISED FOR MY CHARITY AS SOME WENT INTTHE BUCKET ON THE BAR, BUT THE RAFFLE RAISED IN EXCESS OF £350 POUNDS.

THE DAY HAS BEEN VERY TIRING, BUT VERY FULFILLING AND I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYED THE COMPETITION AND THE CAMARADERIE THAT SEEMED TO BE INABUNDANCE. EVERYONE SEEMED TO BE IN A JUBILANT MOOD EVEN IF THEY HADN'T GOT A GREAT SCORE.

I THINK I WILL SLEEP TONIGHT AS IT SEEMS THE DAY AS BEEN NEVER ENDING,BUT NEVER THE LESS,I THINK VERY WORTHWHILE.
ONCE AGAIN CAN I SAY THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU FANTASTIC SUPPORT.

CLUB & SENIOR CAPTAINS WEEKLY REPORT

WEEK ENDING 7TH JULY 2019

WE HAVE SEEN SOME RATHER UNUSUAL THINGS HAPPENING THIS WEEK,THE LADY CAPTAIN TOOK ONE OF HER CLIENTS ON A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE COURSE,UNFORTUNATELY THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE ENDED UP IN THE DITCH.NORA WAS FINE AS WAS SHEILA.I MUST INFORM EVERYONE IT WASN'T EITHERS FAULT,THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED ON THEIR BUGGY.ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GREAT DAY OUT AT SOUTH DERBYSHIRE GC. 
DONT FORGET THE OPEN ON THURSDAY,THE PRIZE TABLE IS VERY IMPRESSIVE.THANKS TO THE SECRETARY ROB ROWLEY FOR ORGANISING.

 SATURDAY IS CAPTAINS DAY PLEASE DO YOUR UPMOST TO ATTEND.THE PRIZE TABLE IS AGAIN IMPRESSIVE.THERE IS A HALFWAY HOUSE,PUTTING COMPETITION AND PRIZES FOR ALL DIVISIONS + LADIES.STILL LOOKING FOR A FEW MORE SPONSERS,PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.I WILL BE SELLING RAFFLE TICKETS THROUGH THE WEEK FOR THE RAFFLE.

SO THE TWO SENIOR CAPTAINS SAT ON THE BENCH WATCHING THE LAST PAIRING COME IN IN THE INAUGURAL MATCH AGAINST UTTOXETER -- THE MATCH WAS TIED --- OUR LADY CAPTAIN TEED OF WITH HER PARTNER MEL SMITH. SHEILA HITS A GOOD DRIVE AND WITH A SECOND SHOT JUST BEFORE THE GREEN --- THE BANTER WAS A PLENTY BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS --- WHAT DOES OUR LADY CAPTAIN DO ?----YES! CHIPS IN TO WIN THE MATCH TO GREAT APPLAUSE --- BRILLIANT DAY ALL ROUND AND PLAYED IN A VERY CONVIVIAL ATMOSPHERE AS FRIENDLIES SHOULD BE.

WEEK ENDING 23RD JUNE

 ANOTHER WEEK OF FINE WEATHER AND WE ARE GETTING BACK TO SOMETHING LIKE GOOD CONDITIONS.THE FERGIE BELL HAD GOOD CONDITIONS,HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED IT.
    THE SENIORS ARE AWAY ON THE 27th JUNE TO BEAUCHIEF IF YOU ARE IN THE TEAM GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY THE DAY,AND COME BACK WITH A WIN.
    ON FRIDAY WE INVITED A LOCAL COUNCILLOR(NADINE PEATFIELD). A LOCAL HOUSING OFFICER AND PEOPLE ON THE  LOCAL RESIDENTS COMMITTEE.THE CLUB CHAIRMAN GAVE THEM A TALK ABOUT HOW THE GOLF CLUB IS MOVING FORWARD AND COMING INTO THE 21st CENTURY.HE ALSO COMMENTED ON HOW WE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE THE LOCAL RESIDENTS GROUPS TO USE THE CLUBHOUSE AND BE ABLE TO INTEGRATE AND USE THE CLUBHOUSE ie COFFEE MORNINGS,OLDER CITIZENS LUNCHES etc etc.THE COMMENTS ABOUT THE RENOVATIONS WERE GOOD,ESPECIALLY THE OUTSIDE DECOR AND THE MEMORIAL GARDEN.WE WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW OF THE PROGRESS THAT IS MADE.
    CAPTAINS DAY IS FAST APPROACHING AND I HOPE THE WEATHER HOLDS OUT.I AM LOOKING FOR SPONSERSHIP OF THE HOLES,ALREADY HAVE SOME BUT A FEW MORE WONT COME AMISS.PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECT OR ANY MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE.IF YOU ARE A LOCAL BUSINESS WITH AN ADVERTISING BANNER OR EMPLOYED BY SOMEONE I WILL GLADLY DISPLAY THEM ON THE TEE ANY HOLE,FOR A SMALL FEE OF COURSE.GOOD ADVERTISING SPACE AS THERE WILL BE NON CLUB PLAYERS IN THE COMP.

IT IS OUR LADY CAPTAINS 6TH BIRTHDAY ON THE 30TH OF JUNE AND HER FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU HER PARTY WHICH IS ON SATURDAY THE 29TH AT THE GOLF CLUB PM ONWARDS ALL WE ASK IS IF YOU ARE ATTENDING AND BRINGING SOMEONE WITH YOU PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME ON THE LIST IN THE LOCKER ROOMS THIS US JUST SO WE HAVE AN IDEA ABOUT NUMBERS FOR CATERING PURPOSES FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE SEE MARLENE DANTER OR FRED WAPLINGTON.
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK ALL THE LADIES THAT BOUGHT CAKES AND GAVE THEIR TIME TO MAN THE HALFWAY HOUSE ON SATURDAY (RAM DAY) AND THE GENTS WHO GAVE GENEROUSLY THE FINAL TOTAL OF MONEY RAISED £123.70P WHICH WAS DIVIDED BETWEEN MR CAPTAINS AND LADY CAPTAINS. CHARITIES.

CAPTAINS REPORT

WEEK ENDING 16TH JUNE

THE LAST WEEK HAS SEEN A LOT OF WORK ON THE CLUBHOUSE,THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR TIME AND LABOUR TO MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN.THIS INCLUDES THE LADIES SWEEPING AND CLEANING THE CAR PARKS AND ROAD INTO THE CLUB.IF THE WEATHER ALLOWS I CAN SEE THE OUTSIDE PAINTING FINISHED,IT ALREADY LOOKS A LOT BETTER.SIV HAVE PLAYED THEIR PART WITH THE NEW PLANT TUBS AND HANGING BASKETS.
    SATURDAY WAS "RAM DAY"WHICH I BELIEVE IS OUR PREMIER OPEN OF THE YEAR,THERE WAS IN EXCESS OF 150 ENTRANTS,WITH A GOOD TURNOUT OF OUTSIDE CLUB PLAYERS.THE RAIN STAYED AWAY FOR MOST OF THE DAY,BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE LAST FEW 4 BALLS GOT A REAL DRENCHING.WELL DONE TO THEM FOR PLAYING THE GAME OUT.CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GROSS SCORE WINNER SAM SMITH,AND STEVE MEPHAN THE NETT WINNER.
    CAN I GIVE A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HELPED MAKE THIS DAY A GREAT SUCCESS,TO MENTION A FEW ROB ROWLEY,JOHN HALLETT,HERBERT FRYER AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST OUR MR STARTER DAVE BALDING.
    I MUST GIVE A MENTION AND BIG THANK YOU TO THE GROUND STAFF FOR GETTING THE COURSE INTO SUCH A GREAT CONDITION DESPITE THE AWFUL WEATHER WE HAVE HAD.THE COMPLIMENTS COMING IN WERE FANTASTIC,WITH PLAYERS SAYING THINGS LIKE,"BEST COURSE IN THE COUNTY,SUPER GREENS, WISH OUR COURSE WAS AS WELL KEPT,AND A CREDIT TO THE GROUNDSTAFF.ALSO HOW WELL IT WAS ORGANISED AS A DAY.SPECIAL MENTION TO MICK BARNES,WHO STARTED AT 1am TO CUT THE GREENS,HE ALSO  WENT OUT IN THE RAIN TO SWEEP THE WATER AWAY FOR THE LAST TWO GROUPS SO THAT THEY COULD PUTT OUT,AND THAT WAS AT 6pm,A LONG DAY.
   DON'T FORGET THE KARL BUCKLEY ON THURS 20TH JUNE, STILL TIMES AVAILABLE,AND THE PRIZE TABLE IS VERY GOOD.

Week Ending 9th June

ONE MORE WEEK TO GO FOR "THE RAM".I HOPE YOU HAVE GOT YOUR TIMES IN,AS THERE IS QUITE A BIG FIELD EXPECTED,OVER 100 AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME.I HOPE THE WEATHER HOLDS OUT FOR THE DAY.GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE,AND LETS KEEP THE TROPHY AT HOME.
SATURDAY WAS AN ABSOLUTE WASHOUT,BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE NINTH NONE OF THE GREENS WERE PUTTABLE.4 PUTTS JUST TO GET THROUGH THE WATER WAS THE NORM.
THE WORK TO THE  FRONTAGE OF THE CLUBHOUSE IS COMING ON NICELY,THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE HELPED,WE STILL NEED HELPERS TO RUB DOWN AND PAINT THE FRONT OF THE CLUBHOUSE.

I HAVE BEEN AWAY FOR MOST OF THIS WEEK, AGAIN LITTLE TO REPORT.
I PLAYED YESTERDAY, AND I CAN ONLY MAKE REALLY GOOD COMMENTS ABOUT THE COURSE.WELL DONE MARK AND THE GROUNDSKEEPING STAFF, IT IS A CREDIT TO ALL YOUR HARD WORK, AGAIN THANK YOU FROM THE CLUB AND MYSELF.I WENT INTO A COUPLE OF BUNKERS DURING MY GAME AND NOTICED THAT SOME HAD NOT BEEN RAKED AFTER PEOPLE HAD PLAYED OUT OF THEM.PLEASE REPAIR THEM IF YOU DO GO IN,IT IS FOR YOUR BENEFIT AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE FOLLOWING ON.
I HOPE THE LADIES ENJOYED THE COACHING FROM EVIE CARTER,THEY LOOKED TO BE ENJOYING THE EXPERIENCE.THE WEATHER WAS KIND FOR YOU ALL, AND I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THE CREAM TEAS AFTER.I WASN'T AROUND FOR THE CHILDREN COACHING SO I HOPE THAT WENT WELL TOO.
DON'T FORGET THE RAM TAKES PLACE ON 15TH JUNE,GET BOOKED IN FOR A GREAT DAY OF GOLF. IT IS OUR BIGGEST MAJOR OF THE YEAR AND BRINGS PLAYERS FROM ALL OVER. WITH THE COURSE BEING IN A GREAT CONDITION I'M SURE WE WILL SEE SOME GREAT GOLF.

A REMINDER TO ALL CLUB MEMBERS 50 & OVER.WE HAVE A 14 HOLE STABLEFORD COMPETITIONEVERY TUESDAY OPEN TO BOTH LADIES & GENTS.
SENIOR REPORT 
WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE A RETHINK ON THE TINSLEY SENIOR AWAY DAY WHICH WAS PLANNED FOR JUNE 13TH. THERE ARE IMPORTANT MATCHES GOING EITHER SIDE OF THAT DATE SO WE HAVE DECIDED FOR THIS YEAR TO CANCEL IT. 

ANYONE WHO HAS PAID MONEY WILL BE FULLY REFUNDED AND WILL BE CONTACTED BY MIKE FOWLER. 

THE SENIOR FRIENDLY TEAM IS AWAY AT BROUGHTON HEATH THIS COMING THURSDAY - SO THOSE WHO ARE PLAYING AND HAVE BOOKED A T TIME AT DERBY PLEASE CANCEL IT.

NOT A LOT TO REPORT THIS WEEK AS I HAVE BEEN AWAY.I HEAR YOU HAVE BEEN HAVING GREAT WEATHER FOR THE WEEK,JUST MY LUCK THAT THE WEATHER WAS AWFUL WHEN WE LANDED HOME.HOPE YOU HAVE ALL HAD A GOOD WEEKS GOLF.

I RECIEVED AN EMAIL THIS MORNING FROM SOUTH DERBYSHIRE GOLF CLUB CAPTAIN,HE TOLD ME WHAT A PLEASURE IT HAD BEEN TO HOST AND PLAY DERBY GC IN THE CARTWRIGHT CUP.ALTHOUGH WE WERE BEATEN HE TOLD ME THE TEAM ARE AN ASSET TO DERBY GC AND PLAYED WELL.
WELL DONE TO THE TEAM FOR BEING GREAT AMBASSADORS FOR THE CLUB.

THE CAPTAINS AWAY DAY IS THIS THURSDAY ON THE 23rd.FIRST TEE TIME IS 9-00AM,IF YOU REQUIRE A BUGGY PLEASE BOOK DIRECTLY WITH SEEDY MILL,IF YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH SOMEONE WE WILL ACCOMMODATE YOU.

I AM SORRY TO LEARN OF THE PASSING OF ROY HASLAM PAST CAPTAIN AND CHAIRMAN,THE FUNERAL WILL TAKE PLACE AT BRAMCOTE CREMATORIUM AT 9-45AM.CAPTAINS IF ATTENDING GREEN JACKETS PLEASE.

THE HARRY DALE TROPHY COMPETITION ON TUESDAY 21th MAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE FUNERAL OF ROY HALLAM A PAST CAPTAIN. THERE WILL STILL BE THE NORMAL TUESDAY COMP. THE HARRY DALE TROPHY HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY 25th JUNE.

THE SENIOR AWAY DAY IS JUNE 13th AND WITH ONLY 6 ENTRANTS IS IN JEPODY OF BEING CANCELLED . IT WOULD BE SAD NOT TO ENJOY A DAY OUT - A GAME OF GOLF AT ANOTHER COURSE WITH A BACON COB ON ARRIVAL AND A MEAL AS YOU COME IN AFTER - ALL FOR £13 !! AND THAT INCLUDES PRIZES.BUGGIES £20 EACH.
